Stories
How to post a story, control who can see it, check who viewed it, and understand how long stories stay up before they disappear.
What stories are
Stories are a lightweight way to share a moment from your day without sending a direct message to everyone. A story is a photo or a short update that stays visible for a limited time and then disappears on its own. Because stories expire automatically, they keep your sharing current and your chats uncluttered — there is nothing to clean up afterward.
Stories sit in their own area of the app, separate from your one-to-one and group chats. They are meant for casual, ambient sharing: a glimpse of where you are or what you are doing, rather than a conversation that needs a reply.
Posting a story
To post a story, open the Stories area and choose to add one. You can share a photo or a short update, and once you post it, the people you are connected with will be able to see it. There is no audience to build or followers to chase — stories are shown to your existing connections, which keeps the experience personal.
Think of a story as a quick share rather than a polished post. Many people use stories for everyday moments precisely because they are temporary, so you do not have to overthink what you put up.
Who can see your stories
Stories are visible to the people you are connected with on Stitch, not broadcast to the public or to strangers. This is a direct result of Stitch being account-based and built around real connections: the people who can watch your stories are the contacts you have accepted.
If you do not want a particular person to see your stories, the right tool is your contacts and blocking controls. Blocking someone removes you from their reach, and managing who you are connected with shapes who can see what you share.
Seeing who viewed your story
After you post a story, you can see who has watched it. This viewer list is a simple way to know your story reached the people you had in mind, and it is part of what makes stories feel like a relaxed, two-way way to stay in touch even without a direct reply.
Viewing is gentle by design — watching a story does not start a conversation or send a notification flood. If a story prompts someone to reach out, they can simply open a chat with you.
How long stories last
Stories are temporary by nature. A story stays up for a limited time and then disappears automatically, so your shared moments do not pile up over time. This is the core idea behind stories: they capture something in the moment and then quietly go away.
Because stories are temporary, they are not a substitute for sharing something you want to keep or for an important message. For anything that needs to last or get a response, a regular chat message is the better choice. As with all sharing, remember that other people may be able to screenshot or save what they see, so only post what you are comfortable sharing.
